I had the recent pleasure of connecting with a charming blogger and business entrepreneur, Janine Ferreira who is the owner of Through the Line Marketing. She wears many hats and I am sure you will be blown away by her multi skilled persona as much as I have been.
Here is what she had to say….

Let’s talk about your brand.
Through the Line is a Marketing Consultancy that uses both traditional and contemporary marketing channels to market brands. The idea behind Through the Line is to assist small to medium businesses that cannot afford a full-time Marketer, to get quality Marketing services.
How did your passion for “marketing” originate? Did you have a light bulb moment or was it inherent from day one?
I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do when I left school. During my last year of school I did a Career Assessment which was facilitated by a professional who carried out a few tests to tell me what careers I will be best suited to. It turns out that I had a creative streak, but a strong analytical mind too.
Couple this result with the fact that I am very easily bored and could never choose a monotonous or repetitive job, made me lean towards Marketing. This is when I decided (after having a gap year) that a BCom in Marketing will tie all my strengths together.
Do you do this full time or do you have a day job?
I do marketing full time.
I also teach swimming as my other “on the side job”, because swimming is another passion of mine and I didn’t want to choose between the two! The two are also so vastly different that it is always refreshing to go from the desk to the pool and vice versa!
I have also recently started a blog called Nine is my Number
I am in the stages of launching a subscription box company called Box Cleva, so watch this space!
What motivates you to keep working on your craft?
I really enjoy being creative and using creativity to benefit a business. Seeing your plan and work come together and bear successful results is also an amazing feeling and keeps me going.
What is the one thing you want to accomplish for 2017?
Through the Line is still in its “teething” stage. I hope to see it grow into a well-established business (or at least very close) by the end of the year. Even better would be if I could get so busy that I have to hire someone to assist (creating employment is a huge goal).
Would be great if my other ventures can be deemed successful by 31 Dec 2017!
If you had a crystal ball, what would be in the future for you?
Developing a business that has a substantial number of employees with different departments as well as different branches.
If you had a Bucket List, what would be on it?
- Travel… lots of it (I have so many countries I still want to visit)
- Abs with a six pack (LOL)
What is your secret to networking and growing your social media following?
Being a people’s person- approachable, friendly and helpful- always helps in the networking realm.
In terms of social media- consistency, relevance…and hashtags!
Creativity for both of the above
Who are some of your local influencers? Feel free to audaciously name drop.
Riona Jagathpal- @crazyrio84
Sashena Rampershad- @sasha_za
Zukiswa Vutela – @zookeyzarling
Aisha Baker-Parnell- @bakedtheblog
Melissa Kate (of course!)- @melissakate_1 [awh thank you!!]
What is the best advice you ever received?
Do not worry about something you cannot change… (still working on this though)
What is the legacy you want to leave behind? What do you hope the generation of 2050 will say about you?
I want to be a blessing to others and an inspiration to many. I want people to say that I was selfless, giving and an inspirational leader. I want people to say that they want to be just like me!
